I wrote this song in a band van on my way back from NYC. I'm not sure which van (or band for that matter) but it was inspired by what's called an alternate tuning. Basically you twist the little tuning pegs on your guitar in various directions until you stumble on a new voicing that makes all the old chords brand new again. The best part is that it usually only involves one or two fingers to turn your guitar into a carnival. Somewhere in that one-finger momentary magic I just blurted this song out in what seemed like a pitstop at the Walt Whitman Service Area on the Jersey Turnpike.
Matt McGinn played tambourine
Scott Simons bailed me out of a jam with some late-night west coast keyboards.
Micah Wilshire mixed.
