This is an old song I wrote about a particular music industry person (or persons) who once held my fate in his hands. He would say things like "if you looked like so and so you'd have a record deal by now." It did wonders for the ego. The thing is, as cold as what he said sounded, he knew what "they" were looking for and he was a very successful fella...and he was no different than much of the "business" folks in the music world. Problem is, I let that industry stuff get to me for a long time. It caused writer's blocks that felt like eternities and even kept from playing as many shows as I did in the day.
These days I've moved past dealing with those kind of people and now happily have my fate in my own hands and try to keep myself surrounded by the "other" kinds of music people. This one goes out to El Duave by request who lived through it with me.
